NYC Bees Newsletter: October slate, Into a Bar pod, Fanzone, best PL start

Hello NYC Bees!

I know we're eager to get back to league play after this lengthy international break. Here are some bits of news for you as we head into October!

October schedule: Five games in three weeks
Our club's depth will be put to the test with four league games and a Carabao Cup match, all in the span of about three weeks in October. We'll be back at The Red Lion, 151 Bleecker St., on Oct. 10 for our road match against Aston Villa. We're also slated for a weekday watch event for our fourth-round Carabao Cup fixture against Sunderland on Oct. 28.

As of this writing, Paramount Plus has yet to list its full coverage. Hopefully with just eight games remaining in the event, we'll definitely be on the broadcast this time. Stay tuned to our social media channels for the latest.

One thing to keep in mind between NYC and England in October: We will have a four-hour time difference (not five hours) from London because of their daylight saving time through part of the month. Those details are spelled out in the schedule graphic.

Best PL start for Brentford
Thanks to our 3-0 home victory against Chelsea on Sept. 18, we have posted the best five-game start in Brentford's Premier League history! Our 9 points (and plus-6 goal differential) puts us in fourth place in the table. It also marks the first time Brentford has an unbeaten opening five games to a PL season. Newcomer Jaidon Anthony, 2025-26 PL Golden Boot runner-up Thiago, and Fabio Carvalho all notched their first league goals of the season to upend Chelsea. We already have seven different goalscorers in PL action.

New pod: A Soccer Fan Walks Into A Bar
As we keep expanding with this group, our outreach with some new media and show opportunities is fortunately growing, as well. This past month, I joined A Soccer Fan Walks Into A Bar, which is headed by Dave Mires, the founder of the Bournemouth New York supporters' group in the Hudson Valley. I was on the Sept. 10 show as a prelude to our road match against the Cherries. Our supporters' group will likely rejoin Dave in March, as well. It was great to connect, especially with someone who has a heavy role in promoting the sport at his establishment in Newburgh, N.Y.!

Return to PL Fanzone on Peacock
So last season, our very own Dan Mitzelman had just a brief cameo with the folks at Premier League Fanzone. Fortunately this time around, they brought him back for a much lengthier segment! He joined Fanzone's Monday crew with Anita Jones and Leroy Rosenior on Sept. 21 (live on Peacock) to cap off our memorable weekend win over Chelsea. Great job on the show, Dan! Brentford News & Notes
International window updates: Midfielder Vitaly Janelt received his first senior national team call-up with Germany, while forward Kevin Schade also was called up by head coach Jurgen Klopp. ... Denmark midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard had one of the most impressive highlights of this stretch with a 25th-minute free kick goal during his side's 3-2 loss to Kris Ajer and Norway on Sept. 24 in their UEFA Nations League clash in Oslo. In total, 21 Brentford players represented their respective nations during this international window.

Brentford Women tally 8 at Gtech: Led by a four-goal outburst from Ashley Cheatley, the Brentford Women rolled to an 8-0 victory against Newhaven on Sept. 27 at Gtech Community Stadium. It marked the team's most lopsided win of the season as the Bees are competing in their second campaign in the fifth-tier London and South East Premier Division. Wiktoria Kiszkis contributed a brace, while Millie Constantine and Makeba Black each added a goal.

PL Fan Fest on Oct. 10-11: We will have some NYC Bees representation at the Premier League Fan Fest, which is taking place Oct. 10-11 in Denver! Hopefully we'll have a nice Bees turnout at Union Station when we square off against Aston Villa that morning. The NBC Sports team of host Rebecca Lowe, plus analysts Robbie Earle, Robbie Mustoe and Tim Howard will be on site for the Premier League Mornings Live show.

Quick hits: Led by Fabio Carvalho's game-winner in his long-awaited return to the pitch, Brentford defeated Reading 2-1 on Sept. 15 in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Callum Wilson scored the game's opening goal within three minutes. ... German international Kevin Schade was a nominee for the Premier League Player of the Month after scoring twice in three matches in September. ... Brentford's Long Read features Jaidon Anthony, check it out!
