SUPERLIGA SEMIS: FIRE VS. REVOLUTION

Blanco named to MLS All-Star First XI, replacing De Rosario

The Chicago Fire take on the defending SuperLiga champion New England Revolution for a 6 p.m. (CST) match Wednesday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

Despite New England's ongoing injury setbacks, the team somehow manages to defy the odds. The Revs posted a 2-0-1 record in group stage, the best record among the eight teams. Chicago posted a 2-1 record, dropping its third game to Tigres UANL but still securing a semifinal spot.

Tigres and Santos Laguna square off against one another in the 8 p.m. (CST) semifinal on Wednesday.

Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch has risen to the occasion in SuperLiga, saving 11 of 13 shots in three games, posting two shutouts to start off the tournament. New England's Kheli Dube and Kenny Mansally each have two goals and two assists so far in the tournament. New England's six goals in three games was tops in group play.

• Blanco replaces De Rosario in All-Star First XI: With Toronto FC's Dwayne De Rosario unavailable for Major League Soccer's All-Star Game on July 29, the league announced Tuesday that Chicago Fire midfielder Cuauhtemoc Blanco will take his place on the MLS All-Star First XI. De Rosario's Reds face the Puerto Rico Islanders in the CONCACAF Champions League on July 29. Blanco finished just under De Rosario in the midfield voting for this year's All-Star Game. He had a goal and an assist in last year's festivities, leading MLS past West Ham United, 3-2.
