NYC Bees Newsletter: November Itinerary, Media Hits, Mbeumo Mania

Greetings NYC Bees! We're back in the top half of the table, Bryan Mbeumo's maintaining his hot start and Brentford is now one of eight remaining teams in the Carabao Cup! Here are some links and bits of Brentford news as we head into November.

Opening November at Craven Cottage
The November schedule includes four Premier League matches starting with a rescheduled Nov. 4 clash against Fulham, at Craven Cottage. The match was previously set for two days earlier, but was changed to a weekday because of broadcast purposes. We have a pair of home matches against Bournemouth (Nov. 9) and promoted Leicester City (Nov. 30), and a road match against Everton (Nov. 23) at Goodison Park. See the graphic for this month's schedule at The Red Lion, 151 Bleecker St.

Appearances on Whole Lotta Wolves, PL Fanzone
Continuing our presence on the media/supporters circuit, we had a couple October spots that included the USA-based Whole Lotta Wolves Podcast, and another stop on Premier League Fanzone, live on Peacock. We'll likely rejoin the Wolves show when we face them again in late May, and the Fanzone program is TBD depending on the interest of our upcoming matchups. If you'd like to participate in these or any other shows, please let me know so we can get your Bees thoughts on the air!

Bees reach Carabao Cup quarterfinals
It took penalty kicks to make it happen, but Brentford eventually prevailed 5-4 in their shootout to eliminate a determined Sheffield Wednesday squad to advance to the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup! The Bees and Wednesday were level 1-1 through regulation on Tuesday, Oct. 29, with Kevin Schade's 11th-minute tally representing the lone Brentford goal. Bees goalkeeper Mark Flekken dove to his right to turn away Liam Palmer's shootout attempt to cap off the match. On Oct. 30, Brentford found out that the club will be facing Newcastle in the quarterfinal stage, which takes place in mid-December.

Brentford News & Notes
Mbeumo Mania:
Through nine matches this Premier League season, Bryan Mbeumo continues to score at an amazing clip. His eight-goal start puts him second in the league, behind only Manchester City's Erling Haaland (11). Mbeumo has also become the first Brentford player to reach 50 goal involvements (29 goals, 21 assists) in the Premier League. Mbeumo is coming off back-to-back seasons with nine regular-season goals, so his next tally will already match that feat. Fingers crossed on his sustainability (and health) that we've only witnessed a snippet of what will be a banner 2024-25!

Goalscoring lifts club into top half of PL: Brentford has scored 18 times this season (2.0 goals per game), which ranks tied for third in the Premier League. That has been enough to prop up the Bees into the top half of the table in ninth place with 13 points. Unfortunately Brentford has also conceded 18 goals, and has yet to post a clean sheet.

Injury Updates: Wissa, Jensen return: There have been some greener pastures on the injury front these days for Brentford. Yoane Wissa returned from his ankle injury, ahead of schedule, as a sub for the Bees' road match against Manchester United on Oct. 19. Mathias Jensen, who had been out for close to two months because of a calf injury, finally got back to the pitch on Oct. 26 as a sub against Ipswich Town. Though Kris Ajer missed the Ipswich match, it is anticipated that he will be back for Fulham.

Quick hits: The Brentford Women are preparing to face Ascot United on Sunday, Nov. 3. The team has some impressive momentum heading in, recently posting an overwhelmingly lopsided 15-0 win over Richmond Park on Oct. 27 for an 11th straight victory. Chloe Logie and Ashley Cheatley each netted five goals in that match. ... As part of the Premier League's No Room for Racism campaign, Brentford celebrated women's manager and former Bees defender Karleigh Osborne: Rejection to Resilience. It is a great feature chronicling his experiences, so definitely check it out! ... The Brentford Independent Associated of Supporters (BIAS) 2024 AGM is taking place on Wednesday, Nov. 13 (1:30 p.m. ET), via Zoom and in-person at Gtech Community Stadium. If you're a member (joining is free), you must register for the meeting with the email address registered with BIAS. If you're interested in more about BIAS, email feedback@bias.org.uk.
