Bees United: The NYC Experience

By Charlie Corr
Bees United Contributor

When a visitor to a New York City Bees watch party said our Red Lion event was the "next best thing to being at the Gtech," we were naturally flattered by such a ringing endorsement. In the pre-Premier League era, our meet-ups wouldn't have been a concept in the States. Yet for the past 20 months, the NYC gathering has turned into a local and international Bees hub as a prelude to all the other Manhattan amenities.

BrentfordFC.com Feature: The New York City Fan Club

By Brentford FC

In recent years, the only time you would hear "Brentford FC" and "New York" in the same sentence is when the Bees were playing away at Rotherham United's New York Stadium in the Football League. But, now, Thomas Frank's side have a following in the American city, thanks to a fan club founded by a trio of loyal Brentford fans across the pond.

For a recent watch party against Arsenal, they had more than 30 people attend -- and, like the club itself, their aim is to just continue to grow.

"We're in a bit of a unique spot, being in New York City -- it's a good vacation destination, a good work destination, so we get a real variety of people," Charlie Corr, one of the fan club's founders, said.

The Athletic Feature: Brentford Fans in the USA

Brentford FC beat writer Jay Harris of The Athletic caught up with NYC Bees Charlie Corr and Levar Riley (among many others) to chat about their Bees fandom and the growth of the club support in the United States.

Charlie Corr: "When Brentford won the Championship playoff final, I was at my mother-in-law's house in Arkansas. I was screaming at the TV downstairs in the basement. They heard me and were thinking, 'what is he watching?' I'm pretty sure I was the only person in the state of Arkansas who cared about them getting promoted.

Levar Riley: "I did some homework to really find a club that played an exciting style of football, had strong community ties and a true family atmosphere. A club's record of supporting inclusivity meant a lot more to me than even winning trophies. Once I found Brentford, it was clear the club and supporters checked all the boxes. I've been a fan ever since."
