NYC Bees Newsletter: May stretch at Red Lion, Hot Takes with PLinUSA

Hello NYC Bees, we're down to the final month of the season. Before we turn toward our fifth straight Premier League campaign this fall, we still have plenty to play for as we wrap up 2024-25! Last chance to connect for what should be an exciting stretch!

Five more meet-ups at The Red Lion
For the first time since our formation of the NYC Bees, we're proud to confirm that we will be meeting up for all of Brentford's league and Cup matches for a season! Thanks for your support! Our May schedule features five matches at The Red Lion, 151 Bleecker St., starting with Thursday, May 1, against Nottingham Forest. The bar will also open its doors early for the Sunday, May 4 fixture against Manchester United. Let's pack the pub for this final stretch! See the graphic for our full May itinerary.

Cameo on PLinUSA's Hot Takes
In early April, our USA Brentford supporters Alison Roberts and Reggie Gee appeared on PLinUSA's "Hot Takes" segment! Reggie's joking Manchester United relegation prediction didn't quite pan out, but Alison could be on the money for Brentford's potential eighth-place finish. Check it out! Hopefully we'll see some more content from PLinUSA's NYC drop-in at The Red Lion!

Top-10? Europe?
The eventual Premier League champions (Liverpool) and relegation sides (Southampton, Leicester, Ipswich) are pretty much set in stone, but a lot is on the line for many clubs in between. Brentford enters May just outside the top-10, but the Bees are in position to make the rise into the upper half of the table. Further off, but still an outside possibility, is qualifying for European competition. A top-5 league finish for the UEFA Champions League is unlikely under the circumstances. But the Europa League is within reach with a virtually flawless run in May (Race for Europe). Through April 23 league play, 11 points separate sixth-place Chelsea (57 points) and 11th-place Brentford (46 points). Until we're mathematically out of the running, you never know!

Brentford News & Notes
Brentford Women on verge of promotion:
The Brentford Women have a couple incredibly meaningful matches on the horizon over the next week and a half. The Capital Cup Final against Farnham Town FC is on April 27, followed by their match at Clapton Community on May 4 in the London & South East Regional Women's Football League Division One North. The latter, if they win that one, would mean promotion into the fifth tier of women's football! While much of their season has been defined by a plethora of lopsided victories, it took a hard-fought 1-0 road win against Denham United on April 22, so nothing's a guarantee. Bring this one home!

Mbeumo brace paces Bees: Brentford found its attacking swagger at Gtech Community Stadium with a 4-2 victory against Brighton on April 19. Bryan Mbeumo led the way with two goals, giving him 18 on the season. Yoane Wissa contributed his 16th goal. The Bees have the league's top goal-scoring duo this season, ranking fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Golden Boot race.

Quick hits: The Red Lion sports page has been updated in recent weeks with our Brentford meet-up listings. We'll continue to provide the most up-to-date details on our social media channels, but feel free to bookmark their site for future reference. ... We made an appearance on Brentford FC's Fan Spotlight the day before the Brentford-Brighton match.

USA Brentford fans make cameo in PLinUSA Hot Takes segment

On April 7, our USA Brentford supporters -- NYC Bees' Alison Roberts and Florida-based fan Reggie Gee -- appeared on PLinUSA's "Hot Takes" segment. Reggie's joking Manchester United relegation prediction didn't bear fruition, but Alison could be right on the mark with her prediction of Brentford finishing as high as eighth place this season.

This footage was from PLinUSA's visit just outside The Red Lion in NYC earlier this year. We're hoping the league and their social media will utilize some more interview footage from our NYC-based Brentford supporters!
